RAF32 Trailer

The RAF 32 self-propelled railway trailer is designed to meet rail transport needs with high load capacity and an efficient braking system. Approved by SNCF, it ensures safe and optimized travel on railways, particularly for demanding industrial and logistics operations.

With a platform measuring 6,016 mm in length and 2,500 mm in width, the RAF 32 is equipped with four integrated “twist lock” fasteners on the chassis, ensuring secure anchoring of transported loads. Its unladen weight is 5.5 tonnes (excluding options), and its maximum load capacity reaches 32 tonnes, offering optimal flexibility for various applications.

The maximum speed on rail is 23 km/h, while the version approved for agricultural use allows movement at 27 km/h on the road. When combined with a Menzi M585 excavator, the maximum rail speed remains 23 km/h, with a reduced speed of 5 km/h in pedal-pass mode.

The trailer’s dedicated driving hydraulic power is 51 kW (around 70 hp), with a traction torque of 3,000 Nm per axle, ensuring smooth propulsion and adaptability to railway conditions.

The braking system is a key feature of the RAF 32, ensuring optimal control in all conditions. It includes multiple mechanisms:

  • Automatic hydrostatic brake with a maximum torque of 3,347 Nm
  • Positive action brake, delivering up to 3,600 Nm of torque
  • Negative action automatic brake, providing 750 Nm of static braking

These systems guarantee enhanced safety, particularly on slopes up to 35/1000.

Operator ergonomics and safety are also prioritized. Forward driving offers optimal visibility. In reverse, direct vision through a rear-view camera allows full awareness of objects between 0.2 and 6 meters, while an additional rear camera reduces this distance to 20 cm, giving complete control during maneuvers.

Track setup is fast and efficient, requiring only 5 to 6 minutes to become rail operational. It is compatible with 60 kg/m rails, mounted on either wooden or concrete sleepers. The platform height from the rail is 850 mm, optimizing access to transported equipment.

An optional branch shredder, rotatable to the left or right and powered by a 400 hp standalone engine, is available for added functionality in specialized operations.

The RAF 32 trailer combines robustness, power, and safety, meeting the high demands of railway and industrial professionals.
